If you are following us elsewhere on social media you will know we were geared up and ready to go for the Fenty Beauty launch. Mummy M left home super early, I gave her a lift to the station and she was in line waiting for the opening of Harvey Nichols.
I posted swatches on my Instagram stories on the day after the launch. Then Mummy M and did a “Get ready with us” on Facebook Live.
Where to begin?!? From the moment I saw the trailers for the line I knew that Fenty Beauty had to become part of my make up collection. The inclusivity and diversity in the adverts alone made me want the products. I will divide the review it into two sections, “The Must-haves” and the “You can live without”
Fenty Beauty – Must-Haves
Mummy M and I saw the highlighters and we had to have them. The shimmer sticks come in a number of shades but we chose the ones that compliment our skin tones best. The sticks are quite thick so look as though will last well, The formula is quite creamy, and blends out well with either your finger or a brush. And the glow, THE GLOW, it’s gorgeous. Whether you apply a small amount or if you go all out.
The foundation is exactly as described. It’s matte, it lasts and provides medium coverage. I would recommend using a colour corrector beforehand, a silicone based primer and setting with powder for best results. I have seen other reviews mentioning oxidation but by following the steps I mentioned before I found this to be minimal and not noticeable at all. If you are concerned with oxidation you can always go a shade or two lighter.
I absolutely adore the shape of this sponge. It works well and fits around the contours of your face nicely. I have also found this sponge it a lot easier to clean than others. In the image above the sponge has been used a few times and only has the slightest tinge of brown.
Trophy Wife (Gold) was definitely the star of the launch. Trophy wife is extremely pigmented and quite glittery so it has to be used sparingly. I literally lightly dabbed the brush on the surface in order to avoid the touched by Midas look. Many of the other Killawatt highlighters come in duos.
My nose gets super oily and this is the ultimate blotting powder. It is completely transparent and there’s no flashback in photos. Although the brush has to be purchased separately as a pair they fit together perfectly.
Fenty Beauty – You Can Live Without
Although I love the collection in its entirety there are 3 products I would tell my Stars to feel free to pass on. Save that coin! The primer feels more like a moisturiser and I’m not convinced it adds to a flawless finish. The gloss bomb as fantastic as it is, it does not offer any thing unique, it is just a very nice smelling lip gloss. I have never been a fan of blotting paper and this has not changed, you’re better off getting the cheap and cheerful kind or sticking to the Invisimatte blotting powder.
If you’re still reading go you! This post has been packed with photos and text but as I am sure you can tell I am super excited about this new brand and can’t wait to see what else Badgalriri has in store for us! Let me know your favourites and what you are planning to add to your collection.
Until next time Stars!
